After the most recent post on this, I realized a had more steps to do.
1. I needed to "grub2-install /dev/sda" as suggested by Michael J.
Chudobiak. I've since done it. Thank-you, Mike.
2. I needed to do the post-update steps given in the F-20 fedup
instructions. I've since done them.
A couple issues remain, but I believe them to be unrelated to the
original post. So I'm closing this. I'll post separate questions on
those other issues.
I thank all who helped me with this, especially Chris Murphy.
Bill.

Virtualbox mac address -
by Bob Goodwin
I have vbox in this F20 computer and have two copies of Centos installed
as vm's. It appears that vbox assigns a MAC address for each VM? How do
I control that assignment, if I can? Some how it has assigned one a Mac
address with the same address as an NFS server and I can't seem to
remove that.

Apache problems
by Roger
Using Fedora 19, Drupal, PHP, ruby, Rails, etc.fully updated.
Apache died again for me today and I do not understand why. It has not
done this for some time.
I develop in Drupal, and Rails 4 mainly.
I have a test index.html file in /var/www/html all the drupal apps also
in /var/www/html/ no index.php files outside the drupal directories.
All was good yesterday but today I get errors indicating that apache has
failed, I think.
mysql is running, info.php shows all ok with Apache2.0 handler
When I run index.html or other files, it sends that file to /Download,
which is getting quite annoying. I don't want files sent to /Download.
Haven't figured out what's causing this.
Run localhost/sandbox, a drupal testbed I get: The website encountered
an unexpected error. Please try again later.
PDOException: SQLSTATE[HY000] [1045] Access denied for user
'meuser'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in lock_may_be_available()
(line 167 of /var/www/html/sandbox/includes/lock.inc)
I have checked:
/etc/hosts
/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
.htaccess in /var/www/html. Don't know why drupal needed a.htaccess in
/var/www/html so I renamed it temporarily but that did not help.
Nothing seems to have changed.
The only other thing I have done is install AngularJS and NodeJS
yesterday afternoon to have a go at Angular web development.
I have working AngularJS files in /var/www/html/Stuff/ and each has it's
own .htaccess file. but Angular does not rely on apache as I understand
it. I had altered the .htaccessfile in the AngularJS file.
Yesterday I was swapping between Drupal, AngularJS and Rails and each
worked.
Checking my system I have stopped apache then enabled and started
apache, have cold rebooted.

how to list packages installed from a particular repo
by Ranjan Maitra
Hi,
I was wondering if there is an easy way to list all the packages
installed on a F20 system from a particular repo.
Many thanks,

IPv6 error messages....
by Ed Greshko
I've got an IPv6in4 tunnel created by a router on my network. Everything seems to be working just fine since I get this....
[egreshko@meimei ~]$ ping6 ipv6.google.com
PING ipv6.google.com(2404:6800:4008:c02::65) 56 data bytes

64 bytes from 2404:6800:4008:c02::65: icmp_seq=3 ttl=54 time=306 ms
However, these error messages are piling up in the logs. These came from a "journalctl -r" command so they are in "reverse" order.....

I don't know how to determine the origin of "Invalid address for specified address family" and/or why a "(IPv6 Commit) scheduled" is happening about every 10 seconds.

Configuring grub questions
by Alex
Hi,
I have an old computer with two disks. One is a F18 system and the
other is a Win7 system. Both disks were installed and configured as
primary. I've been shutting down the system and switching the IDE
cables depending on which one I'd like to have booted.
How can I configure the grub on the F18 system so I can control which
system I'd like to load at boot time?
Could I set up the F18 system as a secondary disk with the Win7 system
as the primary, and boot from the secondary with grub configured on
it? I'm not sure how Win7 would respond to booting as a secondary disk
when the install was done as primary...
If this was lilo, I could probably figure it out, but I'm unsure how
to configure grub for this specifically.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

OK,
I do not understand what is going on.
texlive-frenchle delivers french.ldf (in fedora 18 there is no french.ldf
but a frenchb.ldf provided by texlixe-babel).
but lyx complains:
dist/tex/generic/babel/babel.def
File: babel.def 2013/12/03 3.9h Babel common definitions

\U@D=\dimen107

\l@canadian = a dialect from \language\l@american
\l@australian = a dialect from \language\l@british
\l@newzealand = a dialect from \language\l@british
)
! Package babel Error: Unknown option `french'. Either you misspelled it
(babel) or the language definition file french.ldf was not found
.
Is it a lyx of a fedora issue?

no more java
by Frédéric Bron
alternative --config java gives:
1 /usr/java/jdk1.7.0_17/jre/bin/java
2 /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.5.0-gcj/bin/java
*+ 3 /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.7.0-openjdk-1.7.0.60-2.4.4.0.fc20.x86_64/jre/bin/java
only 2 works.
What happened? I did not change anything myself. Must come from an update.
