fedup on a vicious cycle

So I tried the stuff below. Got the magic message: reboot. Reboot into fedup and it keeps throwing me back into grub and the same reboot into fedup after a while of text on the screen. How do I get out of it? network vs network manager wait online

I was trying to change from NetworkManager to network on a fresh install of f21 workstation, and it sort of works, but the boot hangs for a long time with a start job running for NetworkManager Wait Online. There doesn't seem to be any service with a name like that that I can disable. How do I make this stop? (Shouldn't the wait online stuff be smart enough to recognize NetworkManager is masked and avoid waiting)?

Indeed, At FOSDEM, two years ago (or is it already three) at de samba-devroom they say that with samba4 you could do a seamless switch from Microsoft-AD to samba4, and back. All major distro's fail to do so, because of the HEIMDAL / MIT issue ... It looks like this issue is more difficult to solve than the transition to system. Most efficient way to upgrade a bunch of workstations

So, I read the blurb that strongly advises against doing an iso-based fedup, and strongly encouraging a network-based fedup in order to yank in all the updates at once. I have a bunch of machines to upgrade to both the workstation and server products. Having each one download everything it needs, is going to get real old. In the past I simply rsync-ed the installation image. I have plenty of disk space on the LAN. Then I just fedup-ed everything from my rsynced image. This was almost the most efficient way to get everything updated. Is there a single repository that I can keep rsync-ing regularly, and use it to upgrade my machines – to both workstation and server products – over a period of time?

Questions about Fedora 14 Workstation

Just downloaded the .iso and installed it on my desktop. Really nice! The repositories seem to be a bit limited, though. No Chrome or Chromium, but I've installed it directly from Google's download page. And I need the program gpart in order to attempt a data rescue on an external drive. Not in the repositories, either. Can someone point me to a repo I can add so that gpart is available? Thanks.

suspend broken by f21 update! (hp dv9000)

hp dv9000 laptop. suspend/resume has worked for many years on each version of fedora. Not anymore. On opening lid, all I get is a loud BEEP and a black screen. No response to attempting to switch VT or anything else I can think of trying. Any idea how to debug? -- -- Those who don't understand recursion are doomed to repeat it

anaconda root= weirdness?

When I copied my f21 KVM image to a real partition and edited the UUIDs and msdos partition numbers that were laying around, I found I could only boot the rescue menu entry, the default one wouldn't work. After being confused by this for a bit, I finally noticed that the root= line on the default entry said /dev/vda1 not UUID= I could have sworn it always used UUID for all kernel entries in previous fedoras. Anyway, I now have a new thing to look for when copying install images around :-).

fedup --product=nonproduct --network 21 went perfectly smoothly!!! no problems during upgrade, and no problems after reboot .... so far :)
