Remind GUI -
by Bob Goodwin
I use the remind-gui calendar which displays a one month page using
"Tcl/tk" whatever that is? I would like to be able to change the font
displayed to bold or better yet bold white on a black background.
Can anyone tell me how to change this?
Bob

wifi - repeatedly disconnect/reconnect
by bruce
Hi guys.
Dealing with a centos 6.5 that's going to be moved to fedora, but I'm
trying to resolve an issue before it gets moved.
The box is running centos 6.5, completely updated. The box is running
NetworkManager, and connecting to a wpa2 wireless network. The wifi is
usb rt5370 ralink. The box has updated elrepo driver
# yum install kmod-rt5370sta
Tried to use different usb/wifi devices that are still rt5370 based,
no change. Tried to switch different usb ports, no luck. Also tried to
connect a different box with the same results.
Rebooting, gives the following that gets repeated over time..
Also including the ifcfg, as well as the iwlist
Any pointers/thoughts would be useful.

missing font zgmb8r (for LaTeX) on fedora 20
by Ranjan Maitra
Dear friends,
I compile a LaTeX file and then see the following message when I read the dvi file:
Warning: Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion
kpathsea: Running mktexpk --mfmode / --bdpi 600 --mag 1+57/600 --dpi 657 zgmb8r
mktexpk: don't know how to create bitmap font for zgmb8r.
mktexpk: perhaps zgmb8r is missing from the map file.
kpathsea: Appending font creation commands to missfont.log.
Alternative,
$ dvipdf grant-2014.dvi
dvips: Font zgmb8r not found; using cmr10
and this provides a mess for boldface fonts.
Would anyone know off-hand where to get this from?
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

Mounting HFS+
by Henrik Frisk
Hi!
I know that this comes up every now and then but I have this peculiar
situation that my unjournaled hfs+ volume mounts as read only sometimes and
read-write sometimes. A reboot does not help immediately, but after a while
it's read-writeable again.
I'm mounting with:
mount -t hfsplus -o force,rw /dev/sda2 /media
Any help appreciated.

Displayport/HDMI sound output channels reversed
by Matthew Saltzman
I have a Dell Latitude E6410 (running up-to-date F20 and the nvidia
display driver) with a displayport alternate video output. I use a
displayport-HDMI converter to run videos to a TV screen.
When I configure sound to play through the displayport/HDMI output, the
left and right channels are reversed. Running the sound setup tool, I
test the speakers and the left speaker test plays through the right
speaker and vice versa.
Anybody else seen this? Is there a setting that can be changed
someplace? Or is this a bug? Or both?
TIA.

Firefox 34 bookmark sidebar scrolling has changed
by Andre Robatino
Firefox 34 just went to the F20 stable updates. The bookmark sidebar
scrolling behavior has changed and I can't find any reference to it, though
I probably just don't know what to search for. You used to be able to
middle-click on the scrollbar to move it to an arbitrary position, or
left-click on it to move it up/down one page at a time. Now left-click moves
the scrollbar to an arbitrary position (same as the old middle-click), and
middle-click does nothing. Is there some way in FF34 to scroll up and down
the bookmark sidebar one page at a time?

Disable per-host option in dhcpd.conf
by Sam Varshavchik
Anyone knows how to disable an option in a host-specific entry in
dhcpd.conf? I have:
subnet 192.168.0.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
# …
option routers 192.168.0.1;
}
host octopus {
# I don't want this host to receive the routers option
}
Combing through dhcpd.conf(5), I don't see anything.
The octopus host is dual-homed on 192.168.2.0/24, with a router on
192.168.2.1 that should be its default router.
I tried to override it with a host-specific "option routers 192.168.2.1"
setting. This doesn't work, octopus routing is messed up:

192.168.2.1 dev lan0 proto static scope link metric 1024
octopus's lan0 is the 192.168.0.0/24 segment. So this is wrong. octopus's
wan0 port is on 192.168.2.0/24 is also BOOTPROTO=dhcp and I'd expect that
network's router to control its routing, but looks like lan0's DHCP
overrides it.
I suppose I can configure octopus's lan0 port for a static, non-DHCP boot,
but I would like to keep it on DHCP, if possible.

Power management and docks
by John Morris
Been banging my head against a minor problem for months now. Finally
giving up and asking...
Have a Thinkpad and a dock. Mate still allows for this arrangement, I
can even configure it to stay powered on with the lid closed off of the
dock if I want. The problem is I can't logout and back in or reboot.
The second Mate releases control over power the machine suspends if the
lid is down, like most cases while docked.
Googled, poked around in config files, etc. Nothing seems to allow
changing of the power policy while at the login screen. I can totally
disable the lid from /etc/systemd/logind.conf but that is overkill. I
do want the system to suspend if the AC is disconnected and the lid
closes.
