screen resolution weird

Hi, i installed an old laptop for my 3 years old son as in school they already learn how to do simple things with computer 9painting, watching cartoons, and so on...) my problem is the following one: After my son logs in F20 KDE, it's like all icons on the desktop are zoomed in. when i move the mouse i can see that mouse pointer goes far far far below the bottom part of the monitor...so it's like the screen resolution is set up for people having problem seeing well.... even if i have the bottom bar with the icons and menus i can not reach it very well as mouse pointer must go "outside" monitor viewport to reach it and it is really bad thing. If i log with my account, everything is ok, so i believe it's a simple issue but i must confess i don't know where can i check or reinit the gnome desktop to default (without losing son's game icons on desktop) Any idea would be helpful. thx. Sending email to my local server

I'm trying to send email from my Fedora-20/KDE laptop "rose" to my CentOS-6.5 local home server "grover" (in order to run a SpamAssassin test), but I am finding this surprisingly difficult. I've tried with KMail and mail, sending email to "tim@grover", "tim(a)grover.localdomain", and various other combinations, but all fail with "recipient rejected". Hello, After an update of teh kernel. the file: /boot/grub2/grub.cfg is updated. However thsi file is not update properly. If I run: grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg then the file is OK. Somebody can tell me what is going on? UEFI Big Drive question

Hi all; we've just ordered a new server (http://www.spectrumservers.com/ssproducts/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=26&idpr…) Originally I tried to simply upgrade an older server with more drive space, I installed 6 4TB drives and did a new OS install but the OS would not allow me to configure more than 2TB per drive. Subsequent research leads me to conclude that if the bios supports UEFI and the installer boots as such then the installer should see 4TB drives without any issues. I'm also assuming that any server I order today (i.e. a more modern server) should ship with UEFI support in the bios. Are my conclusions above per UEFI correct? Thanks in advance

strange sendmail behavir

I have root aliased to "webmaster(a)mydomain.com" in /etc/aliases. When I use "sendmail -bv root", it shows that the mail will be send to "webmaster(a)mydomain.com". But when I use "mail root", the mail goes to "root(a)mylocalhost.mydomain.com". Mail is handled by a SMARTHOST statement going out to a gmail mx server, but the problem remains if I let it default to finding an MX on its own. I'm baffled. -- -- Steve

OK, Thank you. I understand the mistake: in /etc/fstab, there is /dev/mapper/VolGrpSys_DK0-root / ext4 defaults 1 1 instead of: /dev/mapper/VolGrpSys_DK1-root / ext4 defaults 1 1 However, mount gives: /dev/mapper/VolGrpSys_DK1-root on / type ext4 (rw,relatime,seclabel,stripe=2,data=ordered) How is it possible? Is / mounted before the reading of /etc/fstab (ie from grub2)? And then because / is already mounted, it cannot be mounted again, then why mount / in fstab then? Dual Boot Windows 8.1 Professional Fedora 20

There seem to be lots of problems with dual boot : I solved the problem as follows. On a Dell inspiron laptop I did change the bootmode. UEFI with Legacy Oprom Secure boot Off Bootlist option UEFI Then I first installed Windows 8.1 Professional , then Fedora 20 . Grub functionates perfect and probes on Fedora and displays bootloader Windows on /dev/sda1 and boots the desired OS. So whre is the problem? Greetings , Ger van Dijck.
