Infinite time to initialize Tor Browser Bundle
by Lain Cortés González
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi, I've been trying to initialize the Tor bundle; but nothing happens.
I though that it could be the firewall (since I'm using privoxy as
proxy), so I opened firewall-config and I allowed the service, so that's
it, right? Well no. I spend like 30 minutes waiting for a miracle and
the progress bar didn't change, it didn't move, not even a pixel. So I
though "don't be such a paranoid noodle head, use it without a proxy, or
with a public proxy", so then I did; but still nothing, dang it!
In the config file of privoxy I uncommented the line
forward-socks5 / localhost:9050 .
and I proceed to restart privoxy through systemctl (obviously), and
guess what? You're right: nothing. And yes I tell to the bundle to use
that proxy with those options (localhost:8118).
I know this isn't a tor mailing list; but if any have any idea that I
could try it'd be thoughtful.
FYI: I'm using Fedora 21

UPnP firewall problem with fc21
by John Pilkington
I posted about this on the mythtv-users list and have a workaround, but
it seems worth an airing here.
I have a new installation of fc21, KDE spin, 64-bit on a Core2Duo box.
MythTV is from rpm fusion and UPnP requires UDP on port 1900. I have
been unable to set this up using the default systemd graphic firewall
manager, which causes a tens-of-seconds system sulk and then offers tcp,
but disabling that and using the iptables GUI instead seems ok. I
didn't recognise anything on google.
I don't see this problem on a similar box running SL7.

Rescue boot - Cannot mount vfat partition - /boot/efi System won't boot
by Robin Laing
Hello,
A Fedora 21 laptop that was working now will not boot.
Fully updated dual boot machine. Windows quit working but Fedora worked
until last night.
Trying to boot today, it won't mount the efi partition. /boot/efi so
the boot process cannot boot properly. Grub refuses to boot the kernel.
Or any of the kernels in the list.
If I try to mount the efi partition manually in rescue mode, I get an
error message.
using mount --type vfat /dev/sda6 /boot/efi/
I get
mount: unknown fielsystem type 'vfat'
If I type in
mount -t
and press tab, vfat does show up in the list of file system types.
I have searched and found out dated bugs with similar issues but nothing
current.
One of the lists suggesting help suggested running
dracut --regenerate-all --force
It didn't change anything.
My options are to re-install if I cannot get the boot fixed.

there is another "f" word that would be more appropriate.

Re: Stuck Maximised ... xfdesktop backdrop
by Jonathan Allen
Poma,
> Perhaps we have already solved it, what you say? :)
I did respond to John and confirmed that the size parameter he suggested
did exist, but had the value 'normal'
> Allen asked for another issue - background/wallpaper,
> and still didn't respond about advice offered.
I didn't see a response to that other than logging out and trying other
users. They are OK, this one user is still stuck. Any application that
gets the focus re-draws its part of the screen, but everything else just
stays as it was, even the system menus.
