Issue with dnf update after fedup from fc21 to fc22?

Everything seemed to go thru fine with the update, but then running dnf update ran into a strange issue. It was trying to remove an old fc21 kernel, and it failed with 3 files. Using yumex I was alble to remove two of the files with no problem, but the kernel-core gets a similar message. Tried both of the options it mentions at the end, but still get the message. Not sure why it is giving a message about kernel 4.0.8, when it is remove 4.0.5? Output of dnf update Last metadata expiration check performed 0:03:32 ago on Sat Aug 1 18:48:59 2015. If you know or are willing to learn how to setup netconsole you might be able to capture the call trace for a bug report (I just attach the entire thing I collect rather than "snipping here"). Switching to a debug version of the problem kernel might also help the kernel dev team. Since you're getting a different bug with 4.0.8, I'd give 4.0.9 a shot and see if either oops appears there. And if it doesn't, then try the debug version of 4.1.0 and assuming it panics, capture the output with netconsole. That way you have debug kernel based capture to attach to the bug. And you can say, does not occur with 4.0.7, 4.0.9, first appears with 4.1.0 and still happens with 4.1.2 (or 4.1.3 if you're willing to test it). And then if you're still feeling industrious by the time all of this is done, tomorrow there will be a 4.2.0.rc5 build to test against and you can report whether it implodes too. -- Chris Murphy

Aaugh! xinput not working for drag lock!

I'm trying to do final tweaks to my fedora22 system, and I can't live without drag lock for my trackball. These commands have always worked before: #!/bin/bash xinput --set-button-map \ 'Kensington Kensington Expert Mouse' \ 1 8 3 4 5 6 7 2 xinput --set-int-prop \ 'Kensington Kensington Expert Mouse' \ 'Evdev Drag Lock Buttons' 8 2 1 but on fedora 22 I don't get drag lock (although I do get the top left mouse button mapped to button 8). Anyone have any idea what might have changed here?

Replacement rack server recommendations

I'm looking to replace our 8 year old IBM Express x3550 servers and I'm looking for recommendations. They have hardware RAID 1 with 2x760GB drives, 4GB RAM and Xeon E5410 quad core 2.33Ghz processor. THe biggest problem here is that the server is too slow, so really any modern server would probably do to replace it. Dual power supplies are HW RAID are on my wants list though. What I'm looking for is makes / models that play well with Linux. The only real problem I have with the IBMs is that the HW RAID was not supported by Linux. While I was able to configure it through the BIOS, and the RAID worked when needed, i.e. when a HDD died, I could not monitor the state via Linux. Other than that I don't have any odd requirements. It's just going to be a bog standard LAPP server. I'm based in Leeds in the UK, so a UK based model would also be required. CHeers, Gary

Mobile Broadand

Hello, After I updated from fedora 20 to 22, I lost the Mobile Broadband and Wifi connections. I tried several things like systemctl start ModemManager systemctl enable ModemManager but it does not help. Id does not show up in mmcli -m 0 while it does in mmcli -L Any ideas? after upgrading from W7 to W10, grub2 still thinks it's W7

I have a BIOS machine which is dual boot Windows 7/Fedora 22. I just upgraded Windows from 7 to 10, but grub2 still detects it as "Windows 7 (loader)", same as before, even after running "grub2-install /dev/sda" and "grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg" in F22. Other than the mislabel, everything seems fine. Is it normal for grub2 to not detect the correct Windows version? What about Windows 8, which has been around for a while?

Closure: fedup 20 -> 21 -> No Mouse or Keyboard

Review my post from previous week or so for background First Laptop: Having failed to upgrade Fedora 22 using fedup on my KDE-base Fedora 20, I reinstalled Fedora 20. I downloaded the Workstation Live dvd twice, each time it passed the 256sha and both time the burned dvd passed the media test ... but both time after a prolonged time, the "sad-face" information widget appeared announcing that the Workstation code not be loaded; also no mouse or keyboard so I could not interact with the widget. So, I tried downloading KDE Live .... and I came up with mouse and keyboard.... something is right about the KDE Live iso or wrong about the Workstation Live iso. Then, one more time I executed (going straight to 22 from 20): > fedup --network 22 --product=nonproduct After download, reboot, install, etc. I found my self with the graphics mode login screen with both mouse and keyboard. I logged in putting me in KDE with, again, mouse and keyboard. I did no more experimentation as to why my previous fedup upgrade had disabled my mouse and keyboard. Second Laptop: So, I then took another Fedora 20 laptop (a rather more recent machine) and executed: > fedup --network 22 --product=nonproduct After the upgrade (download, reboot, install, etc.) I was in multi-user mode and I logged in. Then I execute > xinit with my .xinitrc containing: /usr/bin/startkde KDE started but I had no mouse or keyboard!!! So, I changed to graphics mode and rebooted ... yes, I have mouse and keyboard. Changed back to multi-user mode ... no mouse or keyboard. Changed back to graphics mode ... mouse or keyboard. First Laptop: Changed to multi-user mode ... no mouse or keyboard. Changed back to graphics mode ... mouse or keyboard. So, at least for me and two different KDE laptops, "xinit" calling "/usr/bin/startkde" leaves me with neither mouse or keyboard. Just finished upgrading my KDE media server (xbmc -> kodi) with > fedup --network 22 --product=nonproduct and all when well (in graphics mode). Thats it. No answers. I would like to be able to boot into multi-user mode and then start X/KDE but maybe thats no longer possible with Fedora 22. Thanks Richard

Sticky notes: fedora to/from android

Is there an app for writing sticky notes that transfers automatically between Fedora-22/KDE and Android? I use KNotes under Fedora and GNotes under Android, but neither seems to transfer automatically.
