Grrr... Aargh... The 2 or 3 times a year I have to use a word processor, I spend infinitely more time fighting with the A4 default in LibreOffice than I do actually composing the document. Anyone know of any tool anywhere that will go through a LibreOffice installation and consistently replace A4 with Letter everywhere in all preferences, templates, etc? The same question for English (UK) dictionary versus English (USA) dictionary for spell checking. Some sort of site preferences tool would be really useful (especially if it could automagically set site preferences using geolocation :-).

Fortinet VPN and NetworkManager

Hello, I am trying to connect my Fedora 24 laptop to a Fortinet SSL VPN service using NetworkManager. I have installed openfortivpn, NetworkManager-fortisslvpn and NetworkManager- fortisslvpn-gnome. However, using KDE, clicking on the networks icon on the toolbar, and then the 'Configure network connections...' icon shows my devices and connections. If I click on 'Add', under 'VPN' it shows VPN types openconnect, vpnc and openswan, but nothing about Fortinet. As anyone got this working and created a connection to a Fortinet device using NetworkManager? Sechs Wochen dauerte das Experiment. Nicht immer war das versteckte Filmen einfach. „Im Tiger-Gehege mussten wir die spionkamera wlan gut vergraben, damit sie nicht im Wassergraben landet“, sagt Sprecher Christoph Schütt. Bei den Menschenaffen habe man es gar nicht erst versucht. „Sie hätten unsere Konstruktion innerhalb weniger Minuten auseinandergenommen.“ Inzwischen grassieren im Netz spezielle Ausspäh-Apps, mit denen Spanner Frauen unter die Röcken filmen können. Mit der Software lässt sich nicht nur das Klicken der Kameras ausschalten, sie zeigt zum Beispiel auch andere Bilder auf den Bildschirmen, während die Bluetooth Headset Kamera eigentlich eine Frau filmt. Wir sehen neugierige Erdmännchen, schmatzende Giraffen und einen vorwitzigen Waschbären – in Nahaufnahme und aus einer ganz neuen Perspektive. Mate - new windows hide under top panel

I have Fedora 24 on two systems, both using the Mate desktop manager and compiz wm. When I start new applications on one, things are fine, the windows are totally below the Mate top panel. On the other system, new window are created with their title bar covered by the Mate top panel. I can't find any setting affecting this. Ideas? Jon -- Jon H. LaBadie jonfu(a)jgcomp.com

Nvidia Drivers for Fedora 25

Is there a projected date as to when the nvidia drivers will be released with Fedora 25. I have tried to install akmod-nvidiia several times and had to reinstall to get my machine working again. -- All things are workable but don't all things work. Prov. 3:5 & 6

starting FF from command line...

Hey guys.. Test laptop. login as root, start FF from the menu no prob. Start a term as user foo. Try to start FF from the term, and get gconf errors. I then create a "profile" thinking that would solve part of the issue(s). I can then do firefox -p -no-remote (using the created/default profile for user foo) This gets a FF with an error dialog ---- Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit.... ---- net search brings up a bunch of different things.. I really don't want to screw something up, so... Any pointers/thoughts on what the err from the dialog is telling me, and how I can resolve it to allow a reg "foo" user to bring up a FF session. The FF session is ultimately going to be used to run the py/sel tests from the cmdline.. thanks!!

PowerEdge R530 show rx dropped packet with BCM5720

Hi All, I'm having a problem with a Dell PowerEdge R530 running a Fedora 24 with kernel 4.7.7-200.fc24.x86_64 that is showing RX dropped packet on all the onboard BCM5720 4x1Gbits interfaces. I've done several tests replacing cables and switches as well as disabling all rx offload features but the problem still there. Can anyone help here? Thanks in advance, Roberto Fichera. High CPU usage of kswapd0 with no swap partition?

I recently did a clean install of Fedora during the upgrade to 24. I removed the swap partition because I'm ok with everything fitting in memory, but on occasion my whole system locks up and I've started keeping a log of top and it has shown that kswapd0 is using a lot of CPU. Is something not configured correctly on my system? Or any other ideas on what the source of this issue is? Thanks, Dave

New(er) kernel RPMs?

I just got a Dell Latitude E7470. Mostly works with the latest Fedora live. However, attaching an external monitor to the HDMI port hangs the machine. I've been using Linux as my primary machine long enough to know that it smells very much like a driver issue and that the only way I'm going to get it to work is to try a newer kernel. So ... Are there any vaguely official RPMs for new(er) kernels? If not, what is the path-of-least-resistance for building a new(er) kernel? I can google as well as anybody but if there's a definitive way, I would appreciate any pointers. Mike
