Accessing windows shared files from Fedora

Hello, I have a windows 10 system from where I shared some files, I can access those files from my windows 10 on the laptop I have fedora 23 installed on. But from Fedora if I try to access those files it is asking me for a password, which I did not set. NetworkManager, using two networks simultaneously

Hi, How do I tell NetworkManager to default to wireless? The environment I'm in provides internet only via wireless, so that needs to be the default route, if that's the proper term. Right now it's defaulting to wired and since there's no internet via that route, the web browser hangs. I would have though for wired, setting "Use this connection only for resources on its network" would do that, but it doesn't. Thanks, -- Chris Murphy

nVidia Optimus support status

Apparently, the latest release of Bumblebee has dropped support for the nouveau driver. Installing the latest primus package from the bumblebee repo requires removing bumblebee-nouveau and installing bumblebee- nvidia. I haven't seen an announcement to that effect, but there is a bug report at the Bumblebee repo suggesting that that's the direction they are going. Is there a good, up to date summary of the state of Optimus support for Linux and Fedora, both open-source and proprietary? Anyone have in- depth experience with Dell (Latitude E6430) implementation and a recommendation for the best way to proceed? One point in particular: I have a docking station, but I've never been able to get video out when docked. Has anyone succeeded in getting that working? copying images out of pdfs

Again Fedora 22 Xfce. It seems Evince lacks being able to copy an image out of a pdf so I can paste said image into a presentation. Select text seems to be the only option. It was sad when we lost Acrobat reader for Linux. What other tool can read in pdfs and provide selecting an image (e.g. a figure in an IEEE standard) that I can then copy over to Libre Office? thanks

nmcli d wifi list shows no AP's

Here we go again! Fedora 23 Server, no GUI, running on an Intel NUC which has Intel Corporation Wireless 3165. A laptop sees many APs for this same command, but it's running Workstation so I wonder if there's something Server needs that it doesn't get by default (other than firmware and wpa_supplicant which I installed afterward). Also suspicious: # journalctl -b | grep iwlwifi https://paste.fedoraproject.org/377327/ It's a model 3165 but it wants 7265D firmware, which it finds and uses without complaint. But the Carrier: OFF is curious, not sure what that means. Although this is Fedora 23, it is the Fedora 24 kernel and firmware files being used which could be related. Thunderbird locks up

Hi, I am aware that this might not be an appropriate topic for this list, but you never know. I am running TB on Fedora 23. Have been using TB for years without problems. Suddenly when I launched TB the little wheel kept spinning and still does. I can't send or receive email. Nothing has changed in my account settings nor was there an update of TB. Ik can still handle email via webmail on this account. This is a message in the error-console: Timestamp: 05/31/2016 02:57:52 PM Warning: Unknown property 'grid-auto-columns'. Declaration dropped. Source File: resource://gre-resources/ua.css Line: 175, Column: 19 Source Code: grid-auto-columns: inherit; I don't know if this explains the locking up. I tried to remove and reinstall TB, but the problem remains. I asked this question at the Mozilla support forum, but this does not seem to be a useful forum. I don't know how to solve this problem. screen lock

Hello, I setup the screen locking in setting -> Privacy (screen lock on) But it seems that it is not enough because it never turn on to lock. What else do I need to do ? Thank. Changing the Title bar with multiple instances of Thundarbird

This is Fedora 22 with Xfce. I run 4 copies of Thunderbird via a script like: export MOZ_NO_REMOTE=1 thunderbird -profile ~/data/htt/Mail & export -n MOZ_NO_REMOTE I have been doing this for years, now I could use the -no-remote option directly, but that is not the reason for this message... All copies of Thunderbird have a title bar that says the folder open and "Mozilla Thunderbird". Since they all tend to be on an inbox folder, the title bars are the same and this makes for a little challenge to figure out which one to switch to. So I am looking for a way to customize the title bar, either within the Thunderbird profile, or within the launching script. Any recommendations? And please don't recommend to run one copy with lots of email accounts. Each copy already has multiple email accounts. There are business reasons for separating them as I do. thank you
