system upgrade failure: "Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'my', disabling."
by Sam Varshavchik
An attempt to upgrade failed, logging the following entries:
dnf[910]: Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'my', disabling.
Followed by a bunch of:
"Unable to match package <name>"
and
"Error: Unable to match some of packages"
The "my" repo contains locally-built packages. The repo is on the server
being upgraded here. Normally, apache starts and provides access to the repo
over http. Nothing exotic.
system-upgrade downloaded all the packages from the "my" report without any
problems, but "system-upgrade reboot" apparently rebooted the server, and
the reboot apparently tried to sync again with the repo, but, of course,
since the repo is down it failed.
So, how can I proceed with the upgrade, with this situation? Copy the "my"
repo to another server, and point to it? That seems awkward. Why is "system
upgrade" reboot trying to resync everything, that should've been
"download"'s job, I would think.

I miss the tray icons
by Frederic Muller
Hi!
Some of the apps I use only close when selecting quit from the tray for
example. I thought it was unintrusive and let you know what's running
among those apps running in the background you might have forgotten about.
What do you guys recommend to replace it? I was ok with its location (I
do not want it on the top menu bar next to wifi and all.
Thank you.

fc27: nis/ypbind?
by Ralf Corsepius
Hi,
I have been using yp/nis for ages, but with fc27 things stopped working?
Has anybody managed to get ypbind/nis working with fc27? If so, how?
To me, yp/nis seems to be in an untested shape and unusable in fc27.

F27: ssh X forwarding not working?
by Richard Shaw
I just installed F27 on my wife's new laptop last night (HP Pavilion 8th
gen Core i5 w/ Intel video) and the audio is not working.
I was going to check/tweak the settings via remote X from my work computer
which I've done several times in F26, however when I try to run an app it
opens on her screen and not in my Xming session on my screen.
I usually use "ssh -XC <user>@<host>"
Anyone know of any changes in F27 that would cause this?
Thanks,
Richard

Seems that I have a problem with the ciphers, but I cannot figure out what
to change:
The ssh client on the OpenVMS side tells me it has the following ciphers:
Supported ciphers:
3des-cbc,aes256-cbc,aes192-cbc,aes128-cbc,aes256-ctr,aes192-ctr,aes128-ctr,blo
wfish-cbc,twofish-cbc,twofish256-cbc,twofish192-cbc,twofish128-cbc,des-cbc(a)ssh.c
om,cast128-cbc,rc2-cbc(a)ssh.com,arcfour,none
Supported MAC algorithms:

Looking on my Fedora 27 system (actually gives the same output as on a
working F26 system) I get

To me it looks like there are common ciphers available. So the question is
why I cannot connect.

F26 32-bit Live ISO stalls during boot
by eager@eagerm.com
I'm trying to install F26 on an older laptop using the Live DVD. When I boot the DVD, everything seems to work until the "Started User Manager for UID 1000" message. Then the boot seems to stall for a long time, over 10 minutes. The DVD is being accessed, but sometimes stops for a couple minutes before restarting.
Any idea how to proceed?
