F28 HotPlug not working properly

I've noticed that Fedora 28 does not detect an external eSATA disk when it's inserted.
If the eSATA disk is already plugged at boot, it's normally detected and automounted.
USB disks are handled correctly.
I've made a test using a "Fedora-Xfce-live-27" and everything works fine.
I'm using an HP Pavilion laptop.

glibc-static compiled with -fpic?

I see scads of relocation codes for things like PLT references
in the object files in /usr/lib64/libc.a from the glibc-static
package.
Why would a static library be compiled with what looks like
dynamic options?

When trying to install
R-mvtnorm
I get the following error:

Reports of gcc8 vector-validation problems in F28

The MythTV lists have had several reports of problems apparently arising
from new (and improved) vector-validation in gcc8. Is there a temporary
workaround?
It may be a coincidence, but the MythTV bug-tracker is currently
reporting a temporary and apparently Fedora-related error:
Something has triggered an error on your website. This is the default
error page for nginx that is distributed with Fedora. It is located
/usr/share/nginx/html/50x.html

Has the flood of fedora 28 bugs killed it? :-).

Safe to reinstall kernel?

Hi all,
A few days ago I updated through dnfdragora, that update included kernel
4.16.6. Some way through the update my PC froze, and after leaving it
for a while decided the only option was a hard reset.
The PC still boots to kernel 4.16.5, and there's no trace of 4.16.6 in
the /boot directory. DNF reports that kernel, kernel-core,
kernel-modules and kernel-modules-extra are installed (all 4.16.6).
Would it be safe to reinstall the kernel? Or is there a better way to
get things up to date?

[f28] radiotray does not work

Hello,
Just done a fresh installation of Fedora 28.
Unfortunately, radiotray does not work; it crashes on start with the
following error:
pygobject_register_sinkfunc is deprecated (GstObject)
This is a well-known bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1388161
Until Fedora 27 the following workaround used to work:
$ dnf install python-gstreamer1 dbus-python radiotray
But it does not in Fedora 28.
Any suggestion?

Rescue kernel after upgrade

I upgraded from F25 to F27 a while ago and everything seems good except
at boot up the rescue kernel is still showing F25. The other three
kernels are all F27 versions.
What's the proper way to get an appropriate F27 rescue kernel instead of
an F25 rescue kernel ?

F26 update: gnome-terminal doesn't launch; locale issues

I just did an update from F25 to F26 via dnf. After it boots, I can no
longer start gnome terminal (nothing shows). If I ssh into the machine and
try it remotely, I see the following:
$ gnome-terminal
(process:3586): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale.
Error constructing proxy for
org.gnome.Terminal:/org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0: Error calling
StartServiceByName for org.gnome.Terminal: Timeout was reached
So it looks like there is a locale issue in my update. Does anyone know
how to fix this?
