Google Maps WebGL issue w/ Radeon card
by Ian Pilcher
Google Maps reliably crashes its tab in both Firefox and Google Chrome
on my Radeon-based system (FirePro V4900). The only workaround seem to
be to completely disable WebGL in one or both browsers.
I don't see this on my Intel GPU-based laptop.
Anyone else?

[OT] HP EX920
by Mike Wright
Hi all,
newegg has a good price on the 512G HP EX920 M.2 ($180US) NVMe SSD
drives this weekend.
I can find no references to this part and Linux. Everything refers to
Windows (and the problems they're having with it).
This is supposed to be the latest, greatest, fastest, blabla, etc.
Anybody familiar with this re: Linux?
TIA,
Mike Wright

4% battery; dpesn't suspend
by Dave Mitchell
F27. I ran a new laptop battery down to 4% (as claimed by gnome) and my
laptop didn't auto-suspend, nor hibernate.
In settings / power, the only option for battery power these days seems to
be to automatically suspend after a set time period; not at a certain
battery level.
So
a) did I imagine it that earlier fedoras used to have this feature?
b) any way I can enable auto-suspect on low battery for F27?

tip: star tech PEXUSB311AC2
by ToddAndMargo
Also, a bit off topic, but the Star Tech PEXUSB311AC2
StarTech.com Dual Port USB 3.1 Card – 1x USB-C – 1x USB-A – 10Gbps
per port – Expansion Card – USB 3.1 PCI-E Card – USB 3 PCI
Crashes your file system on large file transfers and crashes your
boot if anything is plugged into it when you boot.
Anyone know of a card that works right? How about Siig?

F28 Backlight does not turn off
by Robert Moskowitz
This is Fedora 28 with Xfce.
I have set power manager to blank and lock the screen after 15 min. This
is a change from the default 10min.
Now the screen is black, but staying on. It is no longer turning off.
What do I need to set so that the screen turns off?
thanks

Pan still crashes
by Beartooth
Followups set to gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.general
Pan on F28, which I update at least once daily, still crashes instead
of launching. From the command line with ampersand:
$ /usr/include/c++/8/bits/stl_vector.h:1021: std::vector<_Tp,
_Alloc>::const_reference std::vector<_Tp, _Alloc>::front() const [with
_Tp = const pan::Article*; _Alloc = std::allocator<const pan::Article*>;
std::vector<_Tp, _Alloc>::const_reference = const pan::Article* const&]:
Assertion '__builtin_expect(!this->empty(), true)' failed.
Alas! That is Geek to me. What should I do??

md5 files - how to use them ?
by Angelo Moreschini
Hi
I got the eclipse plugin "WB_v1.8.0_UpdateSite_for_Eclipse4.5.zip.md5"
(plugin windowbuilder).
The suffix md5 is for checking the integrity of the file...
But I cannot use this file (I cannot to install it on eclipse..)
Nautilus doesn't unzip it, and also not the command ;ine tar -xzf.
If I rename the file (in .zip), nothing change..
and also I didn't find some program that can help me...
Some advice will be welcome
Tank you
Angelo

Associating file types with apps
by Alex
Hi,
I have a fedora28 desktop with the latest version of chrome-beta and
would like to be able to click on torrent files and have them be
opened automatically in deluge instead of just being downloaded and
stored in my Downloads directory.
It looks like the files are already associated with deluge when they
are clicked, but I'd like Chrome to pass it directly to deluge instead
of just downloading it.
How can I do this? You'd think it would be easy, but I've searched and
haven't found anything recent.
Thanks,
Alex

Fedora 28 Upgrade Still Boots Fedora 27 Kernel
by David Dembrow
I am going through the fedora 27 to fedora 28 upgrade. It appeared to
go very well. Then I noticed it still boots with a fedora 27 kernel.
Checking for updates checks the fedora 28 repository.
Is this a problem I should try to fix or will the fedora 28 kernel find
its way in with a future update?
Thanks,
