Microsoft all-in-one media keyboard and F27
by Michael Weiner
Quick question, after quite a bit of googling, i decided to ask, has anyone
tried to use and been successful in getting the Microsoft all-in-one media
keyboard (Model 1496) to work with Fedora 27? I have tried to get it to
work by simply unplugging the current keyboard/mouse and plugging in the
usb key, which didnt work. I have tried rebooting, to know avail. Any
suggestions?

Gnome keyring and ssh passphrase
by Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I'm starting here in F28 to use gnome session again, after some Fedora
versions...
I was in Mate up to some days ago and the ssh passphrase was in need to be
inserted only once in mater-terminal, because I had this in my .bashrc (I
think)
export SSH_ASKPASS="/usr/bin/ksshaskpass"
Now I see that my gnome-terminal continues to ask my passhprase without
giving chance to save it into its keyring.
I read this
https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GnomeKeyring/Ssh
but I haven't completely understood it (if it is current)
It seems gnome-keyring-daemon is running
[g.cecchi@ope46 ~]$ ps -ef|grep keyr
g.cecchi 1972 1 0 08:44 ? 00:00:13
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --daemonize --login
g.cecchi 16480 14954 0 15:11 pts/8 00:00:00 grep --color=auto keyr
[g.cecchi@ope46 ~]$
but is there any other setting to do not to insert every time my passhrase?
Thanks,
Gianluca

What is this firefox dnf update line about?
by Tom Horsley
Just curious. Every time I run dnf update, I see this at the
beginning:
Running transaction
Running scriptlet: firefox-60.0.1-3.fc28.x86_64 1/1
Preparing : 1/1
Then it starts the "real" update:
Upgrading : glib2-2.56.1-3.fc28.x86_64 1/31
...
Why 1 of 1 to start with (and always firefox) then switching to 1 of N
for the rest of the update? What special magic does firefox have?

F28 more SElinux warnings this with Wireshark?
by Robert Moskowitz
I just did:
dnf install gftp fping mplayer wireshar* youtube-dl
And got:
SELinux is preventing pool from getattr access on the file /etc/gshadow.
***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests **************************
If you believe that pool should be allowed getattr access on the gshadow
file by default.
Then you should report this as a bug.
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access.
Do
allow this access for now by executing:

# semodule -X 300 -i my-pool.pp

error with /run/user/1000/dconf
by Michael D. Setzer II
In using gedit from command line, I will see these errors?
(gedit:18414): dconf-CRITICAL **: unable to create directory
'/run/user/1000/dconf': Permission denied. dconf will not work properly.
The directory actually does not exist, but there are other /urn/user directories.
If I ssh into the machine using the user id, then the /run/user/1000 directory
and subdirectories are created, and then using gedit does not issue the
errors?
Question:
1. Why isn't the /run/user/1000 directory created with a login (actually
connected via VNC)
2. Why does an ssh login create it, but not the vnc session?

[seeking advice] MariaDB - TokuDB storage engine
by Michal Schorm
Hello,
I maintain MariaDB.
There is a subpackage containing TokuDB storage engine. (available only for
x86_64)
However the TokuDB can't be build against Jemalloc 5, but on F>=28 there is
no older jemalloc version.
The build without jemalloc is not supported too.
Is it OK to drop the subpackage on F28 and later until the upstream adds
the Jemalloc 5 support?
I'm ready to drop such update to Bodhi.
Here's a bugzilla for this issue:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1538870
--
So far, on F>=28 the TokuDB was build without jemalloc.
It may be risky to rely on, yet no one complained.
That's why I'm asking users mailing list too, to get a feedback for such
pontential users, i would be otherwise unable to reach.

Docker warning - Your kernel does not support cgroup rt runtime
by Robbi Nespu
I just installed docker then start the service and check the status.
It said "Your kernel does not support cgroup rt runtime"
There is bugzilla report about this
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1544096 but noted as
NOTABUG.
I am curious what is cgroup rt runtime? Can anyone explain what it about?

ksplice alternative?
by cheese@nosuchhost.net
Hi all,
are there any plans to incorporate inplace kernel/glibc/... patching into
fedora.
i currently use ksplice (legacy, free version) and am quite satisfied. but
oracle seems to be laggy with updates, no Fedora 28 yet (no ubuntu 18.04
version, too). it would be great to have a *free* alternative with quick
releases für fedora.
