X-windows only gives a mouse pointer
by solarflow99
Hi, I have installed the fedora 28 server image for ARM, and wanted to have
x-windows, so I did a groupinstall of LXQt Desktop and also LXDE Desktop.
But running startx just gives me a black screen and a mouse pointer,
nothing else works. isolating graphical.target doesn't work at all.
Perhaps there are more components i'm missing, does anyone have an idea
what else was needed?
Thanks,

Installing PCF Fonts
by Craig T. Lanning
I'm currently running Fedora 26.
I have several fonts that are in PCF format that I'd like to create an
RPM for.
I used to have them in an RPM, but that RPM no longer works so I need
to rebuild it.
How do I install these fonts into Fedora 26 and does this method still
hold for later versions of Fedora?
I searched Google, but the methods it mentioned for installing PCF
fonts didn't seem to work for me.

Can't perform update when double nat'ing
by Richard Shaw
I know the default answer, don't double nat, but in this case what I'm
doing is that I have a wireless travel router with WISP and I am using it
to create my own private & secured network behind a public network.
Web browsing works fine but when I try to perform a "dnf update" I get a
"Error: Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'updates'."
Since it's simple download, i,e, not a complicated connection like a VPN. I
don't know why it wouldn't work, but it apparently does not.
Ideas?
Thanks,
Richard

Live ISO image creation
by Jozsef K
Hi,
I have a question about live ISO image creation. What I would like to achieve is to install exfat-utils and fuse-exfat while I am in live environment and then to create a new ISO image file which would be the same as the one I booted but with addition of those two packages.
Is that possible?
Best,
Jozsef K.

Suspend with kernel-4.17.x broken?
by Frank Elsner
Hello,
with the 4.16.x kernels suspend works perfect on my ThinkPad x230i.
But with the 4.17.x kernels this has stopped working. Screen is
blanked but the system does not suspend.
My current kernel parameters read
net.ifnames=0 selinux=0 quiet acpi_backlight=vendor thinkpad-acpi.brightness_enable=1
What has changed? How can I get suspend working again?
Cheers,
Frank

hidpi screens and terminal-based applications
by Matt Morgan
I have a 3200x1800 pixel screen on my HP laptop.
Everything running under Gnome is fine, even when I connect to an external
monitor--something figures out automatically how to resize the
windows/fonts. Great!
But with Minecraft and Dwarf Fortress, the text-based parts display so
small as to be unreadable. With Minecraft it's OK since you eventually get
to the actual game. With Dwarf Fortress it's unplayable.
Does anyone have a suggestion for this? FYI, I'm not very familiar with
Dwarf Fortress, so if there's a way to fix this inside the game that would
be great, too.
Thanks,
Matt
