disable password dialog pop-up

I have a file that I encrypt using gpg like this: cat foobar | gpg --symmetric > foobar.gpg Up until Fedora 30, it was prompting me for the password right there, at the prompt. In Fedora 30 it pops up a dialog, which I find very annoying. I don't know if this is related to gnome-keyring. Is there a way to disable it? Thanks!

mariadb vs community-mysql on F30

Folks I have an issue with mariadb and community-mysql. I installed mysql-workbench. When I run it it shows a conflict between it and the running mysql server, namely mysql-workbench is version 8.0.16 and mariadb is 10.3.12. So I decided to remove mariadb, i.e. I did: yum remove mariadb-common mariadb-connector-c mariadb-embedded mariadb-errmsg In doing this a total of 62 packages were removed: Removing: mariadb-common QtCreator on F29

Since upgrading to Fedora 29 (yes, I tend to be a bit behind), I've been having problems using QtCreator as I always have to work on LyX. Specifically, QtCreator fails to find a lot of included files, with the result that there are gazillions of 'parse errors' displayed in the editor. For example, our own generated config.h is not found, and QtCreator complains that none of the Qt headers are found. Any idea what has changed or what I might do? I've tried deleting all the *.creator files, etc. Riki

This is from Googles help page: Change account access for less secure apps To help keep Google Accounts through work, school, or other groups more secure, we block some less secure apps from using them. If you have this kind of account, you’ll see a "Password incorrect" error when trying to sign in. If so, you have two options: Option 1: Install a more secure app that uses stronger security measures. All Google products, like Gmail, use the latest security measures. Option 2: Change your settings to allow less secure apps into your account. We don't recommend this option because it can make it easier for someone to break into your account. If you want to allow access anyway, follow these steps: Go to your Google Account. On the left navigation panel, click Security. On the bottom of the page, in the Less secure app access panel, click Turn on access. If you don't see this setting, your administrator might have turned off less secure app account access. unlock frozen/gnome settings

Hello, Since I upgrade to fedora 30, I experience very often a frozen of the graphics login process (gnome). Actually, if I am inactive, the screen turn to lock, and I cannot unlock it. The only way to do something is to log in terminal mode and run kill -9 -1 Also, it may be linked. Upgrade 28 to 30

Hello, To be able to upgrade my fedora 28 to 30, here is the list of packages that I had to remove. It is a lot, too much, compared with the previous upgrade. Is there a way to avoid this? gnome will not start

I use Mate as my DE but would like to have gnome available as well. However I must have a configuration error I can not find as I've not been able to login to a gnome environment for about 3 years. If I create a test user, that user can login to a gnome environment. But when I try I get one of two results, either the screen goes blank, never to change, or I get a gnome flash screen "Opps, something went wrong!". I've tried deleting all "~/.gnome..." related directories including those under ~/.config and ~/.local. But still no joy. This has been the situation on my desktop system since about F24 (currently F29) and carried over to a new F29 laptop where I copied most of my home dir from my desktop. When there were multiple gnome environments available, Xorg, Wayland, ???, they all fail. Though I've looked, I may have missed log entries pointing me to the problem. Hello, I need a gnuplot complied with libcerf In fedora 28, I recompiled gnuplot from 5.2.5, and every thing was fine. In fedora 30, I tried several things/ 1) recompile the version 5.2.5 from my previous package (source and spec). But now, it complains because wxGTK-devel is needed by gnuplot-5.2.5-2.fc30.x86_64 I cannot get a wxGTK-devel compatible with fc30. wxGTK-devel-2.8.12-31.fc29.x86_64.rpm canot be installed I cannot find a wxGTK-devel src.rpm (only wxGTK) 2) I recompile gnuplot.5.2.7-1.1.src.rpm from the OpenSuse distribution But when I want to install, I get: Error: Transaction check error: file /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/gnuplot/gnuplot-lua-tikz.sty from install of gnuplot-5.2.7-1.1.x86_64 conflicts with file from package gnuplot-latex-5.0.6-11.fc30.noarch I cannot find a gnuplot-latex for fedora 30, and I cannot find a gnuplot-latex. Previously, I compiled at the same time as gnuplot (gnuplot-wx, etc..), see point 1).
