Firefox settings
by Jeffrey Ross
With the spell check on Firefox I keep setting Firefox to "English
(United States)" and whenever Firefox restarts to goes back to "English
(Malawi)".
How do I make my language change permanent? Is there a configuration
file that Firefox is trying to use and is unable to write to?
Thanks, Jeff

OT: Maildir vs. mh folders?
by Ranjan Maitra
Hi,
Of course, very OT.
I have been mulling a move from sylpheed to neomutt (because it is not clear to me that sylpheed's development is happening all that much which is a worrisome sign for its future) and so am also deciding on whether to keep the mh folder structure or move to Maildir. I do have a lot of subfolders so it is a bit of a pain to convert everything, but I think that I can probably write a script for doing so. But I wanted to ask if it is worth it to make this change. Now, I know that sylpheed's mh structure is not exactly the same because it puts in some marks and sequences in each directory and does not touch the traditional .mh_sequences touch, but I do not see if that will matter much in terms of the conversion.
Anyway, thoughts? I simply want to know if it is worth making the change which will require some scripting (and some inevitable disruption).
Many thanks,
Ranjan

firefox
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
For now a short week, firefox eat all the memory space (swapping) after
~ 2 hours (quickly diverging process when it starts). I have no control
(ie, I do not know which site generates this behavior). I "just" have to stop it, and to restart it
to have it occupying a "normal" memory space.
This issue probably raise with the last version of firefox.

F32: Failed to update (Andrew Wood) Re: users Digest, Vol 200, Issue
71
by Andrew Wood
Thanks to user 'ITwrx' for the reply but it didn't answer my question
which was specially about the update dialogue.
May I ask someone else to reply who might have some suggestions? Here's
the question below.
Thanks,
Andrew
Hello,
I have the following error - below - and I wonder how to fix it? I have
noticed that some dialogues on F32 - used by the document viewer and the
editor for example - are very unresponsive and can take perhaps more
than 30 seconds or longer to allow lists to be scrolled and buttons to
be active.
I have repeatedly had this dialogue and so waiting for another update
doesn't seem like the right choice.
Any suggestions?
Thank-you,
Andrew

Dear Fellow Fedora users,
I am running mplayer. I want to view a video, but I have screen blanking and disabled screen locking. I play a video, but screen goes blank. The hearbeat-cmd worked before, but now it is not working, I had xscreensaver before but now I am not running a screensaver.

Blocking email by country with amavisd/postfix/spamassassin
by Alex
Hi,
I have a fedora32 server system with amavisd and postfix installed and
would like to block all email from China and a number of other
countries. It doesn't look like there's an easy way to do this.
Perhaps a better approach would be to block all email and only allow
connections from US servers (even though foreign email could be routed
through a US server first)?
Would the GeoIP stuff be helpful in amavisd? Perhaps we can block by ASN?
I'm also using spamassassin and could write rules to block email based
on the TLD, like .cn etc.
Perhaps we could create a policy bank or domain map with a list of the
different countries? Maybe a sender map that can block on a
per-recipient basis?
I've done quite a bit of searching and most of what I see is from
decades ago to links that no longer exist.
Thanks,
Alex

snap packages and Fedora
by David
I have never used snap packages in any distro,
and know nothing about them.
I was bored yesterday, and so I tried to install some
snaps and tinker with them. I loaded the game
"knavalbattle," and the new GIMP fork, "glimpse," and
a note-taking application, "standardnotes."
The snap version of standardnotes is the same as the
appimage version. According to their website, they
use electron builder and indicated that they do not
see a reason to make a flatpak, but that was two years ago.
There is a newer beta version on github 3.5.1 beta. vs the
3.4.6 stable.
The snaps I tried sure did load slow, but they seem to be functional.
I do not think I was able to get the snap-store to function
properly.
Any snap-lovers in the Fedora-world ?? If so, feel
free to email me privately.
