BIND test builds

Hello Fedora users, I have prepared BIND 9.16 builds on COPR [1]. It can be used to install more recent version of bind onto supported Fedora, or CentOS 8. It is technology preview, some derived version should land in Fedora Rawhide and Fedora 33. I would like to ask opinions on that builds. And receive some testing, before it would replace current 9.11 Extended Support Version. I would not recommend it for production use yet, but would like to have some testing on it. If you would like to give it a try, please report possible issues here or directly to me. It is not official build and its issues do not belong to Red Hat Bugzilla. I have made also development version 9.17 builds[2] for even more brave users. Consider it very experimental and with low maintenance priority. But it seems it works. Enable that repository by instructions, then use just: dnf install bind Any test reports would be welcome. Hallo official Release statement isn't out yet, but I say thanks for another nice Fedora release to *all* people made F32 happen. Running F32 since beta was released without bugs on an pure Intel box. - some very minor though, but ... - nice ! stay healthy -- sixpack13

F32 and SELinux - A Preemptive note

Folks should be made aware that with the release of F32 they should be aware they may see some SELinux alerts about preventing a process from accessing sys_nice capability. This alert causes no issues or loss of functionality. There is a bugzilla already submitted and the next release of the selinux policy will donotaudit sys_nice permission for all daemons. -- The key to getting good answers is to ask good questions.

fc31: have to delete xfwm4 every time

When I startx xfce , the desktop opens all screwed up. The desktop is divided into 6 equal horizontal stripes. Each stripe starts about 100 pixels to the right of the one above it, and wraps around to the left. Screenshot doesn't work. But if I delete ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfwm4.xml , no problem! Here's xfwm4.xml. gnome freezing on F32

Mr. James, That was a lot of very interesting valuable information. I plan to save that email and study it word for word, someday. What precisely is "the main repository" in a physical sense ? I assume that specific repo is stored on a very fancy modern server, along with other valuable software. If so, what kind of hardware ? And I assume there is some kind of backup server at that location and also at other locations. I assume there are highly trusted people with both physical and remote access to the server. How many ? Ten ? I assume these specific servers are controlled by Fedora 31 ? Is there a copy of Fedora 31 entombed, in a very deep underground vault some where ? I know that I need to do more research on my own, and I will someday. David Locklear

What is the new sync command?

Hi All, I am writing several GB of data to a flash drive. It won't dismount as it is stikll flushing. # sync /dev/sdc1 comes back instantly. Is there a better command to see if the flush is finished? Many thanks, -T
