Last week, I was to participate in a "Zoom" meeting for a charity that
I'm involved in. I have the needed software on my rarely-used windows-7
box. But I could not complete the windows-7 login (some problem with a
windows-7 service). I've since found there is a "Zoom" client for
Fedora. "dnfdragora" does not find anything for it. But I found a web
page that I hope has what I need. I've downloaded the package
("zoom_x86_64.rpm"), and I've downloaded a "Public Key"
("package-signing-key.pub"). The web site from which I've downloaded
these also has a line:
Key fingerprint: [some 40 hex digit number]
(4 questions)
1. Do the 2 files need to be in a specific place to do the install? If
yes, where?
2. Do I need to be "root" to do the install?
3. What do I do with the "Key fingerprint"?
4. How do I do the install (preferably using "dnf")?

VideoConference Package?

In this extended period of Covid-19 isolation, is there a
videoconference package available?
Hosted systems like Zoom are not opensource, do not use a browser as a
client, feed connection data to Facebook, only allow 2 participants for
free, and not available for a local install.
I thought of Webex, but its Cisco. Maybe its just me :-)
I took a quick look at Jitsi, but users say it has a fatal extreme
processor utilization bug, the rpm packages are 3 years out-of-date, and
does not seem to be present in the normal rpm repos.
I also took a quick look at BigBlueButtion, which looks pretty good.
However, it only runs on an ancient version of Ubuntu, and uses a shell
installer for some unknown reason.
This seems like a major application type that appears to be completely
missing from the repos. Is anyone building one, and just hasn't
announced it yet?

AMD GPU not used by Fedora 31

My laptop model is the HP-ac179tx.

It has an AMD Radeon R5 M330 Graphics (2 GB DDR3 dedicated) GPU which is
currently not being used by Wayland Gnome in Fedora.
This is the output of:
$ lspci | grep -i VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Skylake GT2 [HD

As you can see it is operating on the in-built Intel Graphics. I want all
display operations to happen through the AMD GPU, is that possible?
Now, I know video card drivers has always been a dicey topic, where there
is no stable drivers, just softwares that fail a little less than other
counterparts.
So, I have a few questions:
1) I am using Gnome-Wayland. Are there at all any video card drivers out
there for Wayland ?
2) To use video drivers is it necessary to switch to XOrg ?
3) Is it possible to transfer all display operations to the GPU ? Like my
desktop has the monitor connected to the GPU directly, which means all
display is handled by the GPU. Is something similar possible here?
I did try installing the AMDGPU-Pro Driver from here:

But it fails with the error:
No match for argument: amdgpu
Error: Unable to find a match: amdgpu
Also Fedora was even listed in page, so I guess that means that it is not
supported.

minor gnome annoyance

They finally got rid of the "you have to scroll the screen all the
way up from the bottom" to get out of the lock screen.
Now it says click or hit any key.
If you hit a key, it does get you out of the lock screen, but that
key also winds up being passed to the password entry field as the
first character of your password, so then you type your actual
password and get a login error :-).
Stick to clicking.

2. If it's inpossible, how to get mate-desktop environment with desktop
icons, but without compiz manager, because of problems with orca

F32 installer : "bootloader did not set EFI variable
LoaderDevicePartUUID"

The F32 installer fails. systemd-gpt-auto-generator can't find the EFI
partition because the bootloader did not set it. Therefore sysroot is
not setup.
This is an Acer laptop, upgrading from F31.
Before that error, and maybe related to it, there are errors loading 2
X.509 certificates.
1. Microsoft Windows Production
2. Microsoft Corporation UEFI CA
3. Acer Database
4. Linpus
5. Error
6. Error
7. Fedora Secure Boot
I've tried booting with Secure Boot on and with it off.
AND, there's an rdsosreport.txt file generated. The console suggests you
save it on a usb stick or in /boot. I can't figure out how to mount
either. Any way to save it?

gimp and F32 upgrade

I do not have gimp installed, but do have Glimpse installed via flatpak.
system upgrade reports:
Modular dependency problem:
Problem: conflicting requests
- nothing provides module(platform:f31) needed by module
gimp:2.10:3120191106095052:f636be4b-0.x86_64
removing glimpse and flatpak does not remove the problem.
What should I try next?

GNOME 3.36 power off in less than 4 clicks?

Hi!
With the new GNOME version it seems we're one more click away from
powering off one PC. And so it takes 4 clicks now. Is there a shorter
way to achieve the same thing?

This work from Linux box to Linux box . Not sure about Macs :
local> ssh -Y remote-ip
remote> firefox -no-remote
Note the -no-remote . It forces requests to come from the remote box rather
than the local one ( which is the default )
