SDK for wpf and winforms with dotnet
by Cătălin George Feștilă
Hi,
Can I use these features WinForms and WPF on Fedora dotnet?
My project creates this ...
[mythcat@desk WinGUI]$ cat WinGUI.csproj
<Project Sdk="Microsoft.NET.Sdk.WindowsDesktop">
<PropertyGroup>
<OutputType>WinExe</OutputType>
<TargetFramework>netcoreapp3.1</TargetFramework>
<UseWindowsForms>true</UseWindowsForms>
</PropertyGroup>
</Project>
[mythcat@desk WinGUI]$ dotnet --list-sdks
3.1.106 [/usr/lib64/dotnet/sdk]
[mythcat@desk WinGUI]$ dotnet --list-runtimes
Microsoft.AspNetCore.App 3.1.6
[/usr/lib64/dotnet/shared/Microsoft.AspNetCore.App]
Microsoft.NETCore.App 3.1.6 [/usr/lib64/dotnet/shared/Microsoft.NETCore.App]
I install these packages:
[mythcat@desk ~]$ sudo dnf install mono-complete
[mythcat@desk WinGUI]$ sudo dnf install dotnet-sdk-3.1

Dnf update duplcates some repo checks
by Patrick O'Callaghan
This is an annoyance rather than a problem, but it's been happening for
over a year and I finally decided to ask about it. This is a snippet
from my usual daily 'dnf update' run (with whitespace reduced for
legibility):
...
Fedora Modular 32 - x86_64 52 kB/s | 22 kB 00:00
Fedora Modular 32 - x86_64 - Updates 51 kB/s | 22 kB 00:00
Fedora Modular 32 - x86_64 - Updates 279 kB/s | 272 kB 00:00 <-- duplicate
Fedora 32 - x86_64 - Updates 38 kB/s | 16 kB 00:00
Fedora 32 - x86_64 - Updates 2.8 MB/s | 5.6 MB 00:01 <-- duplicate
Fedora 32 - x86_64 53 kB/s | 23 kB 00:00
google-chrome 16 kB/s | 1.3 kB 00:00
google-chrome 32 kB/s | 3.6 kB 00:00 <-- duplicate
...
None of those repos are duplicated in /etc/yum.repos.d, nor is there
anything wrong with the repo files themselves, e.g.:
$ cat /etc/yum.repos.d/google-chrome.repo
[google-chrome]
name=google-chrome
baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64
enabled=1
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=https://dl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub
So what's going on? Is this happening to everyone or is it just me?

udev change?
by Tom Horsley
I've got udev scripts that were working until I installed an update
today. Way down at the end of a chain of scripts udev starts, it sets
DISPLAY and runs a program (RepetierHost) when I plug in my
3d printer USB cable.
Did something change in udev to make it impossible to start
X11 programs now? It does run the script which invokes mono
to execute the .exe file, and that script produces zero
errors, I just don't have the program pop up on my screen
any longer.
If I run the RepetierHost script from an xterm, it works fine and the
program starts up no problem.
This web page describes the scripts in detail:

port based routing
by Jeffrey Ross
(System Fedora 31)
I'm looking to make routing decisions based upon either the source or
destination TCP port and interface/destination IP, in the Cisco world
I'd do this via policy based routing.
I found an example using iptables
https://www.sparksupport.com/blog/2010/10/02/application-based-routing-in...
however this system is running firewalld and I haven't found an example
(yet) using firewalld.
Very specifically if I receive traffic on TCP port 1234 I do not want to
use my system defined default gateway, rather I want to use an alternate
gateway which will be via an OpenVPN tunnel. I would really like to go
one step further an if it was received on port 1234 AND interface X then
use gateway 1, if it was port 1234 and interface Y use gateway 2, not
sure how far down the rabbit hole I can go. What I am trying to avoid
is have an asymmetric routing condition when I have a firewall fronting
the different interfaces.
Thanks, Jeff

Yup. Rookie error. I got mixed up between the .ovpn extension, and the
"openvpn" plugin name.

Error: failed to find VPN plugin for ovpn.
by Sam Varshavchik
After successfully testing an OpenVPN link on a x86_64, I get the following
error on aarch64, as root:
# nmcli connection import type ovpn file <file>.ovpn
Error: failed to find VPN plugin for ovpn.
Both systems have openvn, NetworkManager-openvpn, and NetworkManager-openvpn-
gnome packages installed.
journalctl -f is completely silent, during this.
The only thing I can think of: the x86_64 server is headless, but has a user
session autologging into a desktop, on the console. The aarch64 VM is also
headless. In both cases I'm ssh-ing in. Maybe something gets started when
there's a desktop login, that's required for this. The only thing I see
running, on the x86_64 server is nm-applet, that surely can't be required.
The x86_64 server desktop login is not a root login, but I can ssh to the
x86_64 server, as root, and install the same ovpn connection without any
issues.

font ttf vs. otf
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
Should I install both extensions .ttf and .otf of the same font?
It is what I have now, but some applications (like xournal) offer me
twice the same font. Is it the reason?
Thanks.

Abrt not working because retrace.fedoraproject.org is down for weeks?
by Clemens Eisserer
Hi,
for quite some time (weeks/months) ABRT does not seem to work anymore,
because fedora retrace servers are down:
Hochladen des uReport zum Server »https://retrace.fedoraproject.org/faf«
> mit curl: Could not resolve host: retrace.fedoraproject.org fehlgeschlagen
>
Effectively this means, fedora users are not able to report
application/system crashes anymore.
Is this a known issue?
What is taking soooo long to resolve it?
Thanks & best regards, Clemens
