Plasma Launch Feedback
by Stephen Morris
Hi,
I have the Plasma program launch feedback enabled in system
settings, and the icons on my desktop have launch feedback enabled, but
when I run a program from the desktop or from the task bar I don't get
any launch feedback in F34. I am running F34 in a Vmware Player vm, but
I would have thought that was irrelevant. Is anyone else seeing this or
know what I am missing to actually enable this functionality?
regards,
Steve

crond/anacron
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
I am trouble because I guess that crond and anacron
run are very close times.
Hence, they start a backup when another backup is running.
This creates real problems.
What do you recommend?
Running only crond or only anacron?
Usually, this machine runs every day for at least 1-2 hours
durin the week, and a long loner during the week-end (when backuo
is run).
However, it may happen that the machine is not run during several weeks.
Thanks.

mounting thumb drive
by Geoffrey Leach
Fedora 32, updated at EOL, FWIW.
I have a Perl script which I use to manage thumb drives. In particular,
it supports mounting without an entry in /etc/fstab.
My problem is that mount forbids a normal user to mount using a UUID,
so the script runs as root.
Is there a way to mount using the UUID (a) without running as root and
(b) without a fstab entry? Thanks.

updatedb/locate in F35
by Roger Wells
In F34 the command
locate *.xyz
finds all expected files
after updating from F34->F35
it seems to only report the ones located from $PWD on down.

NVIDIA on F35
by Clifford Snow
I updated to F35 this week. The upgrade was fast and smooth. I'm currently
left with a couple of problems. A minor problem is that pgadmin4 doesn't
work. I spend most of my time using the psql command line interface to
Postgresql anyway so it's not a big deal. My struggle is with my NVIDIA
card.
The problem is the NVIDIA module isn't loading on boot and instead falling
back to the nouveau driver.
I have a NVIDIA Quadro K4000. From my reading of requirements to run
Wayland with NVIDIA, the 495 driver is needed. Unfortunately it's not
available for this video card as best as I can tell.
I saw a hint that Fedora can be dropped back to using X11. Has anyone seen
any instructions on how to do this?
Thanks in advance,
Clifford

OT: Thinkpad X1 carbon delays?
by Frederic Muller
Hi!
I am/was thinking to get a Fedora installed Thinkpad (would be my first
Linux pre-installed) and the delay is... huge! I'm getting it from the
US and see 3+ months, but can't buy it. I have a good friend willing to
buy it on my behalf who tells me he sees 7+ months delay.
What's your experience with Lenovo US and the shipment delays?
Thank you.

selinux changes: why?
by Nick Urbanik
Dear Folks,
I am regularly having selinux labels changing. This should never
happen, but it does quite continuously; many critical executables lose
their correct label, preventing me from logging in without a relabel.
This is Fedora 35, upgraded over quite a few generations of Fedora.
The root file system is ext4 on luks encryption on RAID 1.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot and determine the cause? I've
never had selinux labels decay before.
