how to use amd-pstate - ?

Noticed Failed message with selinux-policy-targeted on 3 of 5 machines??

In running dnf update on 5 machines noticed a fail message on 3 or 5? To double check ran dnf reinstall selinux* and get this on failing systems? Other day get a message about about regex version not matching, and was told to reintall container-selinux. That doesn't seem to fix issue. Did find changing to minimum option gets rid of the regex message? But why 2 of the machines seem to have no problem, but other 3 get same message?

QCad: and down it goes!

Hi All, Fedora 38 qcad-3.28.2.2-1.fc38.x86_64 I downloaded QCad to gie it a whirl. Every DXF and DWG sample file I try loading qcad with, causes qcad to come down around my ears. Thunderbird & non-english characters ?

Hi guys. I'm trying to add an account in Thunderbird, address contains non-english chars and Thunderbird stops, does not proceed further, colors the field in red & sticks ! mark there. That surely must be not an issue of Thunderbird/OS but my configuration somewhere, right? Email accounts/address with non-english chars are a norm nowadays? thanks, L.

GPT Partition

I am just starting to get into the UEFI with my newer computer. I notice that f38's auto partitioning creates a partition and formats it with xfs. I suppose manually ext4 could be used. This drive I don't believe is too big for ext4. But it would take a little time to format. My question is, using manual or "custom" partitioning would I want a 250-500 MB partition with the ID 0xef00 and then an ext4 partition, for use with linux? I know M$ adds all kinds of additions to the UEFI spec. What is needed for linux in making a custom partition set up? Bill

OT but F38: Cisco SecureClient VPN suddenly stops connecting since this morning

Hi, I have a strange problem, after last night's updates on F38. I am not actually sure that that is the cause, but I can no longer get Cisco's VPN to work. (I have to use Cisco's SecureClient because of the more "secure" 2-factor-authentication required to connect: before that, I used OpenConnect for a long time, and did not have a problem till I was forced to move to Cisco's version two years ago. I have till date not had any issue with Cisco either.) But that last statement in parenthesis only holds till last night. From this morning, I am unable to connect to Cisco's VPN. After logging in, and going through 2FA, all of which are successful, I get that: "Cisco Secure Client was not able to establish a connection to the specified secure gateway. Please try connecting again." <Close> which is on top of: "The certificate on the secure gateway is invalid. A VPN connection will not be established." <Close> Things I have tried: 1) Trying on a different machine, with an up to date, F38, I have the same issue. 2) Using my wife's F37 machine (possibly not very up to date) and I am able to connect on VPN using the same account, so the issue seems to be with me and F38. 3) Back to my F38 machine, I looked at /var/log/report as the connection was happening, and got the following, and was wondering if it shows anything that is fixable. However turning this file in pegs the message at 62KB (which is over the limit of 60KB, that I was not aware of and causes the post to be rejected) so I will send that in the next email. In the meantime, if you have some ideas on what is going on, please let me know. Many thanks and best wishes, Ranjan

Problem with mediawriter on old Fedora installation

For a number of different reasons, my desktop is still on F25, and my laptop's hard drive has failed. I need to make a bootable USB drive, first to install F38 on my laptop's new drive and second to get my desktop current. Alas, when I try to run mediawriter, it failed with a Segmentation fault twice, at the same spot. I know that there's a way to put the .iso onto the drive with dd, but don't know the proper incantation as I've never had to do it before. If somebody can provide it, I'd be grateful.
