Getting different results opening multiple ods files from command line using libreoffice on Fedora 41

Have a number of Fedora 41 machines, and am getting different results from same command line. use libreoffice --calc followed by 4 ods files. On both machines, it does open all four files, but on the one machine, it shows four tabs at top going across, and I can jump between the spreadsheets by clicking on each tab. That is what I want. But on another machine, rather than getting 4 tabs at top, have only 1 tab with the number 4 showing, and have to click on the tab, and then scroll to select the different sheets. Looked at options, and I don't see a difference in settings?? Not sure if it is a setting in libre office, or somewhere else. All machines with Fedora 41, and using xfce. With the 4 tabs, I run a short on each sheet, and then click on other tab, and do all 4, than then select close all to save them all. With the single tab, I have to click, sort, exit, and repeat 4 time. Wondering if someone might know where this setting is?? Hi All, What is the syntax to ad a group to a group I think it is @, but I am not sure Here I am trying to add all members of "users" to libvert /etc/group: libvirt:x:973:@users What am I doing wrong? Many thanks, -T

Access the serial console on Fedora

I have a machine running Fedora 41 which has stopped providing video for its console. Of course, the problem could be hardware, but there is no clear evidence of that. I am able to access the machine with SSH so I know it is working. I don't find any indication of a problem in log files. To help diagnose the issue, I'd like to access its console through its serial interface. (The machine does have a DB9 serial connector and I have verified that it works properly.) I have connected a serial to USB adapter to the machine's serial port and connected the other end of the USB cable to a laptop (also running Fedora 41). On the laptop, I've started putty and selected a serial connection to ttyUSB0 at speed 38400. On the problem machine, I've run the following commands as root with no errors reported. # grubby \ --args="systemd.journald.forward_to_console=1 \ console=ttyS0,38400 console=tty1" --update-kernel=ALL # # The line continuation above is only for readability. # # The actual command was all one line. # grubby --set-default=/boot/vmlinuz-6.13.9-200.fc41.x86_64 # grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg # grub2-install /dev/sda # reboot I then SSH into the problem machine and check for agetty. # ps -ef | grep [g]etty root 1429 1 0 21:55 tty1 00:00:00 /sbin/agetty -o -p -- \u --noclear - linux root 1430 1 0 21:55 ttyS0 00:00:00 /sbin/agetty -o -p -- \u --keep-baud 115200,57600,38400,9600 - vt220 # Again, lines are split and condensed here only for readability. I need to monitor a dead network

Hi All, Fedora 41 I have a customer I set up a Fedora 41 server. Problem: about once a week, its networking dies. All network services are dead, xrdp, ssh, samba, etc.. All of them. Console logins work fine. The solution is to call the customer and have him log in at the console and issue a shutdown. On power up, all work again. What I would like to do, is to set up a cron job to test the networking (ping firewall) and restart/correct the network if I find it down. Now I do know about # systemctl restart systemd-networkd.service But is that enough? What do I need to do to put the network into the same state as after a fresh reboot? Many thanks, -T

apache log monitoring?

Hi, I'm looking for a log monitoring tool that can alert on errors in the access log and error log. Something like what nagios can do to alert on serivce issues except for errors like 500 or 503. Something like fail2ban pattern checking that can take an action in real-time, like send an email or a text message or a Slack message would be awesome. Ideas greatly appreciated

Good morning, I'm planning and preparing to upgrade my workstation from Fedora Workstation 40 to Fedora Workstation 41. The ipgrade is planned for next Thursday. I have read the instructions in docs.fedoraproject.org/.... I see that dnf is getting a major upgrade from dnf4 to dnf5. I have 3 questions. 1. Before the upgrade. Before doing the first step ("dnf system-upgrade download...") of upgrade proper, do I need to do anything beyond what is stated in the instructions? 2. During the upgrade. After doing the first step ("dnf system-upgrade download...") of upgrade proper, and before doing the next step ("dnf system-upgrade reboot") of the upgrade proper, do I need to do anything beyond what is stated in the instructions? 3. After the upgrade proper. After the upgrade proper is done, and before doing any weekly patches (in f40: "dnf upgrade"), is there anything I need to do so the weekly patches will work properly, such as - database (e.g. the rpm database) changes? - configuration file changes? and so on? Thank-you.
