I'll try and get a few hours next weekend to put together some proper
diagnostics. Was hoping someone had already tried with the laptop, the
motherboard and graphics sre the same across all the latest XPS 15s, so if
it's been done on one it should be done on them all.
No matter, I'll rebuild it when I can and get some proper logs going.

Well, you're really not giving enough information for anyone to guess if
they may
have encountered the same problem. Like I said, at the very least you
should post the output of "systemctl status sddm". Also, you should post
the output
of "lspci" showing what the actual nVidia HW is.
