My question to the OP is why do you want to do this?
Because I want to actually use the hardware that I have.
But it doesn't give you any benefit. For the window manager and most application, you would never notice the difference. It might even be slower using the AMD gpu because of all the copies back and forth.
So if you really do need that for something, use the right-click menu option.
There is no way to verify that the card is being used. If you could just help me to verify that the card is actually used or not then this whole problem would be solved.
Is there any way to verify this? Any application I run that wouldn't run on the Integrated Graphics but would run on the discrete card ?
If you can find an application that uses a lot of 3D rendering (which usually means a game), you can compare the frame rate between running it with each option.
