What you do need to know is where the fields differ. This as you might need to update your scripts to handle these differences.

I can not see any reason why the output of journalctl can not to be "a pixel perfect match", so why is it not?

If you want to find out what journalctl can support, look at the man page. If you have suggestions for improvements, post it in Bugzilla like I did yesterday.
