Wow, that shouldn't be. What version of Claws Mail (or Sylpheed Claws)? Just to check, maybe you've set a receive size limit in the account preferences?
In several last versions I did check it with no success to send/download. For the latest 2.9.1 - not, just it is expansive for me to test over Internet (so I have little Internet).
I did not manually set size limit - or why I should speak about this? :)
