AdBlock Plus is available as an RPM, which I assume would install

Well, I'll be jiggered! I normally download things to install,
especially rpms, to my userid's home, and install them myself from there.

Firefox do an install once, (unless the code for AdblockPlus is weird).
Many, many thanks!
