a little more digging, and i ran across this:
"What SSD are you using? I know that there is an incompatibility
between the Samsung Pro 950 and the G752 series. Ive been able to get
it to work but with a few issues."
grrrrrrrr ... so the very SSD i purchase turns out to be
incompatible. drat. however, apparently, there are a couple others
that will work:
so, maybe i'll take a chance.
