System is detecting... you are being assigned sdd in your sequence but the system is choking on the size. And; educated guess here, from the sounds of things while Redhat et. al. can handle into the 20Tb+ range for lvm, raid, etc. seems to some extent limited to 2Tb according to this[1] and similar articles eluding to a 2Tb cap per partition. My suspension is the 3Tb is not being handled... curious if fdisk can access sdd and re-partition the drive into smaller "byte" size [pardon the pun ;)] partitions of <2Tb...
Anyone with a firmer grasp is free to tag in.

I have 2 SAS HDs with 600 GB RAID1 (for the OS) and 4 HDs with 3 TB RAID5, that makes a virtial disk with 8.5 TB for storage, but a only can create a partition with 2 TB. When I try to use a larger size, I have a warning that the size has been exceeded." https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/7039/maximum-disk-size-for -fedora-16/
I have a 6TB WD My Book attached. Has only partition 1 (which is the entire disk), formatted as EXT3, and connected via usb - Absolutely zero problems. I have absolutely no idea why your system is choking on 3 TB.

Thanks much for all of everyone's help.... Not sure there is anything else I can do at this point.
