Well, since you're on Gnome it is possible not all the underlying bits are installed just by installing dolphin on Gnome.
One more question. Sometimes the (USB) devices disappear in the list of mounted devices. If I log out and log back in. it records the list. I guess that there is another way to regenerate the list of USB devices. Could you tell me?
Unplug the device, wait a bit, plug it back in.
