I still can't see the
Samba server from the Windows 10 VM. Should this work?
What kind of networking are you using on the VM? If you're using NAT, then all the connections to the Samba server will appear to come from the same IP, which may confuse things. If the VM has its own independent IP and MAC addresses, then ignore this.
