My wife's laptop (the only one upgraded to 24 so far) had the same problem so I used the "Libinput on X11 Workaround" option from here:

The only oddity is that after an update the scroll direction got reversed (more like touchscreen scroll) and I haven't looked into how to fix it since she said she could get used to it.
