.. and you put it on AC last night, before suspending it? So this time,
with a working wake-up, the machine was plugged into some wall while
being suspended? While the previous times where wake-up crashed the
machine was running on battery?

You know what, I tried making that exact connection last night.  The three times I manually suspended only to wake up as a fresh boot was on battery. But then, on the other topic, but still related to this, I noticed tracker and tracker-mine (or miner-tracker) issues/errors in journalctl that I found while troublshooting this suspend problem. So I decided to 'sudo dnf --exclude='qemu* libvirt*' remove gnome*' because I only use PLasma and just wanted all that extra crap removed. But I did not reboot to test those changes last night.  In addition to that I forgot to plug it into the ac adapter.  So this AM I was greeted with not only a dead battery but a boot to black screen with mouse cursor. My DE just was not starting correctly or one of the Gnome parts screwed my PLasma.. IDK yet.
So I logged into another tty and reinstalled gnome*, rebooted and was back to a working machine.
