I am trying to intercept a program that I would specify so that I can do something like: if I write, on the specified program,
br + TAB
expand that to "Best regards".
I know about AutoKey

but I would like to create my own, since AutoKey is a bit buggy.
Thanks in advance,
One idea is to use ibus as your input method and install/enable "typing booster".
Typing booster allows you to create short cuts as you wish. Then, when using a specific program just switch to typing booster.
Thanks, Ed. It seems that ibus-typing-booster is exactly what I am looking for. However, I cannot put it working on my machine.
I run
ibus-setup
and go to Preferences and add the
Other -Typing booster
input method, but, when I open gedit and write something, no suggestions are presented to me as was supposed. It appears that "Typing booster" is being ignored.
Any ideas? I am running F33 and XFCE.
