Hi! I have the same problem with my laptop (nvidia card).
Could you tell me how you set up the fixed monitor/video port?
Well, mine is a desktop with dual monitors that are always connected. I simply
used "nvidia-settings" to generate the xorg.conf.
That being said, Dave Ulrick had the better solution of editing 'GreeterScreen' in
/etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc. I have tested it an needed to set it to -2 to get the desired result
and have revert to the standard, mostly empty, xorg.conf.
