I have uploaded the file "tainted.c".
You can get it here.

Compile it with "gcc -o tainted tainted.c" and run the resultant
binary and then post
your results.
I downloaded and compiled well.
I can't understand how to use.
With my running kernel the result is:
# ./tainted
Taint value: 0
[bit] [bit value] [description]
Now I think I'm running a non tainted kernel.
Checking the journal log I can't find the word taint.
The bad kernel logs this
kernel: CPU: 7 PID: 1152 Comm: Xorg Tainted: G W 4.13.4-200.fc26.x86_64 #1
I checked with Ubuntu Live 17.04 but it uses kernel 4.10 and works
well.
I checked with openSuse Tumbleweed GNOME-Live-x86_64 Snapshot20171003
and it crashes in the same way with nouveau.
Bye
