I formatted the USB drive for vfat and -- supprise -- it is mountable rw. So I convlude that it is the iso9660 that's the couse of the problem. It is new media. Same thing with a micro SD.

Running Fedora 32, up-to-date
Running mediawriter-4.1.7-1.fc32.x86_64 (as root) with a SanDisk Cruzer 32G USB drive, mediawriter continues without complaint until its done (by the progress bar) and then aborts saying it can't write the drive. "Destination drive not writable"
The USB port is operable.
Suggestions?
Is the USB media new or previously used?
mediawriter is going to reformat the USB media, so why not try removing existing partitions with Gnome DIsks and maybe creating new partitions and filesystem.
