I never really tried XFCE to be honest, guess someone else would have to give the verdict on that.
Why LXDE instead of XFCE? Just curious...

I installed it for the first time ever today, installed Compiz, fiddled around, and eventually got more or less back to the workflow I had under Gnome 2.
