Just set up some filters. Tell it to label and auto-archive(skip the
inbox) and it wont show up on any notifier.

OMG!!!
LOL, I use gmail for all of my mailing-list memberships. If I had a
notifier (Linux or Windows) it would just go NUTS! LOL. (You're
asking about something that lets you know when you have email right?)
