Hmm, I wonder if the complexity of the document plays a factor?  Simple
margins, etc., would be easy to implement in Postscript and PDF, other
things might not be.

You can view Postscript files directly in applications like Evince, you
could try some Postscript testing, before adding PDF to the equation.
