I've added the following comment to the BZ.
FWIW, you can workaround the problem by doing
sudo chmod +s /usr/bin/wodim
I checked an F27 system, it doesn't have a DVD, and suid isn't set. But, as I said, I had no problems with k3b in F27. I used it minimally.
