bc and built-in funcs

Hi all
I have:

$ rpm -q bc
bc-1.06.95-3.fc15.i686

I was searching the web for bc funs to calculate cube roots
and other arbitrary roots. Almost all of the func I found
assume that bc has the built-in funcs  l and e which take
a numeric arg.

Yet my bc has no such funcs.

Is the version above broken?
