Sounds worth a bug report. Include the vcard (with the personal details 
obfuscated - replace the name, replace the digits of the phone number 
but keep the shape). And the edit you made to made TB accept the card.

If you save the vcf file and try to import it to other contact 
management tools, how do they behave?
