Thanks Patrick. I had already tried that command which told me there was 
nothing that needed restarting.
Sudo needs-restarting --services tells me nothing which apparently is 
normal if there are no "important" packages (the man page does provide a 
url that shows a list of packages that are checked) or services that 
need restarting.
