BTW, the reason I don't do this is that one of the drives doesn't
accept the APM spin-down command:

$ sudo hdparm -B 100 -S 24 /dev/disk/by-id/wwn-0x50014ee058f952e1

/dev/disk/by-id/wwn-0x50014ee058f952e1:
 setting Advanced Power Management level to 0x64 (100)
 HDIO_DRIVE_CMD failed: Input/output error
 setting standby to 24 (2 minutes)
 APM_level      = not supported
