Of course by now you've found out that "hp-plugin" is a command provided by the hplip package.

But, I have a question.  Have you considered to delete your printers and then recreate them?

I thought about - and attempted - this, and deleting didn't immediately work, so I pressed on. I shall attempt this in earnest now.
