I do not see the point because ~ is the home directory, why do we need
a ~ subdirectory in any directory?
None of my systems have this. Something you're running or doing must be creating it.
Delete the directory and take notice if it gets recreated.
Is it possible that at some point you make a typing error and added a space to with in a
mkdir command such as....
mkdir ~ /qqq ?
