I did that, rebooted, and tried dnf upgrade --refresh The command was much slower starting and displaying what would be patched. But it looked like it worked. I did not continue with the patches, as I don't think that is relevant to this thread.
It will be much slower because dnf has to download all the metadata for all the repositories before it can do anything. If you have the timer enabled, then most of the time that metadata will already be up to date.
