The line beginning with '--' just signals the beginning of the signature file as you see below.
If you want to get fancy, you could have a long list of signatures, then have a shell or a perl script rotate them every so often. Like mine.

i am using thunderbird. it has a place to browse for sig files. i know i have to make a file then chmod a+x i think.. correct? but i think there is special things that need to be in it like a -- or something
