I have a flash drive that came formatted as FAT16. In this original configuration, FC6 has no problem automounting it. However, if I reformat the drive using Gparted (to ext2, FAT32, or even FAT16), it no longer automounts.
What magic is going on here?
Did you format the entire drive (/dev/sda) or the first partition (/dev/sda1)? If you formatted the entire drive, then it will have problems. You may also have to give the partition a label before it will auto-mount. (I thought they fixed that in one of the updates, but I could be wrong.) Unlabeled media should still get mounted in /media, with a generic name...
(It is late, and I don't remember if gparted will make a file system without a partition...)
