Yes xfce always, before that, perhaps 20 years ago, Window Maker.

I did as you suggested, set to "never." Now to see what happens with 
time. This is a fixed computer, the only battery is in a UPS. It 
normally runs Fedora-30, upgraded several months ago from Fedora-29. I'm 
running F29 because the F30 has reverted to "emergency" mode.
